//R.A.D. (Rapid Ambidextrous Deployment) Belt/NEck Knife
//Improved concept of the original Arbiter belt knife design in 2012, the 2015 R.A.D. knife is fully tested for use in intense self defense situations
//10V steel is one of the highest wear resistance metals |
//Increased blade length models are available for LEO or military personnel for lethal strikes
//Blade is a dagger style tanto with 4 cutting edges for maximum adaptability |
//Proudy made in the U.S.A.
//High value-low cost knife made from customized stainless hardware, high performance 10V steel & G10 handles |
//A comfortable and secure grip in any hand position is crucial in self defense. The design of the RAD knife incoporates the best of ergonomics, comfort & security & can be extracted with either hand in any grip.

//5 Point Review R.A.D. Knife
//CONCEPT
//Based on long term testing of compact tactical knives, the key flaw to most including the original Arbiter design are they are designed for a specific hand in a standard grip to extract/deploy the knife. In a real combat situation that can be the difference between losing or winning. The R.A.D. knife is designed so that no matter how the user grabs the knife handle or how he chooses to hold it, hammer edge in, hammer edge out, reverse edge in, reverse edge out or traditional complete grip, the user can slash & stab to defend themselves. This combined with the slim profile molle lok gen 2 and inverted carry options allows the R.A.D. knife to offer maximum versatility in carry & deployment. //PERFORMANCE
//10V is equivalent to D2 steel in terms of impact/structural strength. The knife is not designed for prying or impact strikes especially since it is a chisel grind. What 10V has is 3 times the edge retention of D2. //The knife was designed with fast deployment in a self defense close range scenario. The handle design allows for any possible hand position to still be secure for stabbing & the double edged dagger style blade means slashing too.
//ROLE & APPLICATION
//The RAD knife is a focused built two purpose knife. To function as a edge holding EDC knife for normal utility cutting, non impact usage. The second purpose is for super swift deployment & razor sharp cutting/stabbing in defensive situations. |
//CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN
//The choice for 10V is to offer something rare to consumers. Most designs are not cost effective to make if made from 10V but the RAD knife utilizes it's simplicity to give you a rare steel. 10V means the steel has 10% Vanadium which increases wear resistance/edge retention. //There are two drawbacks. The first is because of the high edge resistance and HRC the edge will micro chip leading to a toothy saw like edge. This in itself is a good thing but when time comes to resharpen the knife, stropping is not an option & the user must use fine diamond stones. A few passes of the edge to clean off the leftover microserrations will restablish a clean cutting edge. The second drawback is the metal is heavy. Measures to reduce weight are hidden underneath the handle scale but this means the knife is never meant for batoning or hitting of the spine & also to keep the thickness/weight of the knife down the handles are lean. The structural strength is kept by having the hardware not be inset in the handles but sit flush with the surface. This reduces the need for thicker handles/weakening the holes. //For an everyday belt knife, the RAD knife will see lots of use & the 10V will give the user 4 cutting edges that will last a very long time & the knife can be sent in to NK for resharpening. |
//FINAL THOUGHTS
//A mainstay in the N knives line up & intended to be the successor of the original Arbiter, the RAD knife is a great EDC or combat knife. The standard blade length is compact but for LEO or Military, the added blade length makes the RAD knife a competent fighting dagger. Every aspect from the sheath, handles, ergonomics, & hardware, is designed for improved handling & extraction.
