//5p Review Fox Knives Folding karambit
//CONCEPT
// A tactical purpose defense knife that has been a main stay. The Fox Karambit folder is one of the few properly made wave assisted deployment karambit folders & is one of the most balanced in terms of design. //PERFORMANCE
// Fox Knives have proven their lock design knowledge with the Fox Deimos Folder. Unfortunately the folding karambit is a smaller EDC so components are going to be weaker. That being said, compared to other folding wave feaure karambits there aren't many that excel past the Fox. This design has been around for quite some time & is one of the most popular and sought out folding karambits. // For smaller hands without gloves the blade's guard can miss and the blade can still cut the hand if used improperly. Folding karambits are intended for slashing cuts only so the user needs to be cautious. //ROLE & APPLICATIONS
// With the large handle, the knife is designed for tactical agency employees wearing gloves. For civilian EDC the knife can be a little thick in pocket & the wave feature doesn't catch consistently on casual clothing like cargo shorts. The knife was built with workforce users in mind so one should keep in mind the intended purpose. |
//CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN
// Some users have noted that the liner wore out quickly after a month of usage. Fox knives has a warranty for anyone with that issue. The current models have carbudized lock bars & modified geometry and in NK testing have held up acceptably. The overall hardware construction, screw threading & durability of the knife is very good. Precision & cleaned surfaces make this worth showing. |
//FINAL IMPRESSIONS
// For advocates and experienced blade users that know the benefits of having a guard up hand position whilst holding a knife, folding karambits are a wise choice. There are a few other wave opening karambits in the market but the original is the Fox. The design could be classified as outdated but it could also be looked at as traditional. All the features of a good tactical folder are present, from a steel fail safe liner lock to tough N690 blade steel. In the end it will be up to user preference of which option out there to carry.
